I am intrigued by the apparent power the Bishop has over our tiny land politics. I was discussing the ‘old days’ with an old Tory who saw the old way where all candidates were required to meet with the Bishop if they expected to win. He commented that it is more subtle now but that not much has changed.

I am told that in the old days the Bishop would tell the faithful how they should vote. I wish I could zap back in time so I could understand if the sheep have really escaped. It appears not.
