In 1970 I started my first full time job at an annual salary of $5,200. My take home was $80 a week. On that income we had two children, bought a modest home, had two cars and there was enough left over to go out with our friends most weekends.

According to the Bank of Canada calculator that equates to $32,719 today. How far will $32,719 go today for a family of 4?  Maybe they were the good ol’ days.
