Middle class America. The subdivisions were new and filled with mostly young families. Dads went off to work. Moms looked after the kids and homes. New trees were planted to bring beauty to properties. The sounds of summer included kids playing, dogs barking and lawn mowers humming.
There was food on the table and a nice car in the driveway. Dads leaned on rail fences and talked and laughed with dads on the other side of the fence. There was sand lot baseball, bicycles and laughter.
Weekends were time for bbq. Neighbours were friends and shared fun activity. It was a good time to be young. It was a young, white Christian and safe place.
Where has that gone ?
