The term muckraker was used in the Progressive Era to characterize reform-minded American journalists who wrote largely for all popular magazines. I am told a modern muckraker has moved to Prince Edward Island, recognizing it as being fertile ground for his work. He was overheard as saying that in other parts of the developed world what transpires in our little jurisdiction would be news whereas here, it is seen as simply the way things are done.
