..or so says the TV commercial. Alas, sleep has been alluding me for a few months. I have a new appreciation for those that suffer from insomnia. I fall asleep almost instantly and 45 minutes later wake up – wide awake. Once back to sleep I continue to wake up approximately every 90 minutes. I am not getting REM sleep and struggle through a fatigue fog during the day. I am uninterested in a chemical induced sleep.
As I am an early riser (0500-0530), I am trying something. I am trying being in bed at 9 pm. Spend a few minutes calming monkey mind. I have extinguished all the little glowing LED lights in my bedroom. While it is early to end the day, I am up early and enjoy that part of the day.
It seems to be helping:
