..when I hear the latest wheeze about some island group is doing some sort of silly and useless study about how to keep young people home to fill the jobs that island employers offer. 

For crying out loud – go and talk to an employer who has no difficulty keeping good people. 

Treat people well. Treat employees with respect. Pay good people well. Stop thinking about how little you can pay but rather think about how much you can pay good people. Say thank you once in a while and set an example as a leader. It is so simple. The golden rule.
