We hear multiple stories of Asian buyers paying above market prices for residential properties in other parts of Canada and the occasional incident of same here in tiny land. Of course the stories seem to be told in a breathless tone making me wonder just how true they are.
A friend of a friend responded to knock on his door to be met by an Asian gentleman who wanted to buy his home (which was not for sale). It was clear that price was immaterial. It was difficult to explain (apparently) to the potential buyer that the house was simply not for sale.
If someone showed up at my front door and offered me twice market value I would be tempted. As I don't live in the more desirable areas of tiny land that will not happen but what if it did? No doubt there would be a time in my life when I would grab an offer but now is not quite the time.
