People of a certain age will remember Napster and recall the prediction of the end of the music industry. Of course the industry evolved and is as strong as ever.
Now, the buzz is cutting the cord to cable and the big providers of entertainment are fighting back – just as they did with Napster. In an effort to understand I have been exploring some of the grey market providers. There is one provider that seems to pop up in the conversation whenever this is being discussed. Just as an experiment I installed their product on a little Android box. It took me a couple of hours to have a fully functional product but with perseverance it is working with a fully functional program guide. Oh, there are 2,686 channels.
How can the cable companies or movie industry compete with $14 US a month? It is not for me and I have satisfied my curiosity and I now understand. The genie is out of the bottle (again).
