I have written here, with a degree of pride, regarding my roots in the North Country of the Adirondack mountains. This article accurately describes the Stillwater region where my dad had his logging camps. I spent my formative summers with my family at the referenced Stillwater.

This was in the 1950’s and early 60’s and while it was a little tamer than the article describes it was close. When you are 19 miles from civilization the social mores have a way of developing that are very different from ‘back in town ‘. I was just a boy and learned a lot from some of those loggers. They were a hard lot.
